Flat beans and potato masala fry(ଶିମ୍ୱ ଆଳୁ ମସଲା ଭଜା)


  • Flat Beans – 250 grm(ଶିମ୍ୱ)
  • Cooking Oil – 2tbs(ତେଲ)
  • Coriander powder – ½ tsp(ଧନିଆ ଗୁଣ୍ଡ)
  • Curry(chicken) masala – ½ tsp (ତରକାରୀ ମସଲା)
  • Potato – 2 medium(ଆଳୁ)
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp(ସୋରିଷ
  • Onion(slice) – 1 medium(ପିଆଜ)
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp(ଲଙ୍କା ଗୁଣ୍ଡ)
  • Salt to taste(ଲୁଣ)
  • Tomato(chopped) – 1 medium(ଟମାଟର)
  • Coriander leaves for garnish(ଧନିଆ ପତ୍ର)


  • Clean the Flat beans by cutting of the edges and removing the middle fibre and make 3 to 4 pieces of each bean. Wash Skin the beans together, drain keep aside.
  • Cut the potato length wise.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and  add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter
  • Add sliced onions and saute till onions are translucent.
  • Now add flats beans and potato, red chilly powder , coriander powder and salt, mix well to coat the beans with the seasonings.
  • Cover and cook till beans are soft and almost cooked, stirring regularly.
  • Once the beans are soft add tomatoes or tomato paste and mix well.
  • cook for another 7 to 10 minutes or till the raw smell of the tomatoes is gone.
  • Add more curry powder and salt if required
  • Add the coriander leaves and remove from heat.
  • Server hot with rice and dal or roti.
