Besan Curry(ବେସନ ତରକାରି)


  • Besan - 1 cup(ବେସନ)
  • Baking soda - 1 tsp
  • Potato(medium)(cube size) - 1 (ଆଳୁ
  • Onion(chopped) - 2(ପିଆଜ)
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp (ଜିରା 
  • Tomatoes(chopped) - 2(ଟମାଟର)
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 1/2 tsp(ଅଦା ରସୁଣ ବଟା)
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp(ହଳଦୀ ଗୁଣ୍ଡ
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp (ଲଙ୍କା ଗୁଣ୍ଡ)
  • Chicken masala - 1 tsp( ଚିକେନ୍ ମସଲା)
  • salt to taste(ଲୁଣ)
  • Oil for deep fry(ତେଲ)
  • Oil - 1 tbsp(ତେଲ)


  • Heat 1 1/2 cup water along with salt,chilli powder and soda.
  • Add besan and keep whisking on medium heat to thicken the mixture. Then turn off heat and let it cool to room temperature.

  • Then transfer to a flat surface and flatten and Let it rest for 15 minutes. 

  •  Cut up the flattened besan dough into cubes.

  • Heat oil in a pan and fry the cubes until brown on both sides.

  • Wash, peel and cube the potatoes. fry the potatos in the same pan.
  • Keep a side hot oil pan ,fried besan cubes and potatoes. 
  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in another kadai.
  • Add jeera and saute for few second,then add chopped onion and  Let them cook on medium low heat.
  • When the onions are translucent and slightly brown add the ginger garlic paste and chopped tomatoes. Add the turmeric powder,chilli powder and salt and mix well and cover it and let it cook till mixture cooked and mashy.

  • Add the potatoes, chicken masala and cook them for a few minutes. 

  • Add more water and let it boil. Then add the cooked besan cubes and cook for a few minutes.

  • Serve hot with rice or roti.
